Today, I would like to introduce you the most famous singer from Colombia, Shakira. She has been known by many people around the world for her songs and dance choreographies. She has made rock, pop, and romantic records inspired by an insatiable passion for music that takes in everything from Leonard Cohen (Canada) to AC/DC (Australia), Mercedes Sosa (Argentina) to Alanis Morissette (Canada), The Beatles (England) to Soda Stereo (Argentina). Shakira is a pop star with both a smart brain and a strong social conscience because her parents Nydia Ripoll and William Mebarak taught her the value of the honest work and the service to the society. When she was a teenager, her father took her to a public park located in a poor neighborhood in Barranquilla, Colombia. There were young orphans consuming different kinds of drugs. When she saw the social conditions of the orphans in Colombia, she decided to help orphans and children from poor families in the country. Then, when she was eighteen she founded The Pies Descalzos (Barefoot) Foundation in Colombia. The foundation currently provides education and nutrition to over six thousand impoverished children in my country and is expanding its work to other countries, including newly launched projects in Haiti and South Africa. Shakira has also become a leading advocate for Education and Early Childhood Development. She is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and, in October 2011, President Obama appointed her to the President’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics.

Although Shakira has been a great artist since 1990, she has been an amazing leader in Colombia for twenty years.

Today I will talk about my favorite Television series called  Friends. You might know this series because it is a one of the most successful and popular American sitcoms. I have watched this series for four times, now I can remember most of the dialogues. I have learned a lot of idioms and slang from this series because it is funny, close to life, and easy to learn it. For new English learner, Friends is a good choice to learn English. It started from September, 1994 to May, 2004. This series revolves around a six people group in Manhattan. 

There are six main characters which are Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler, Joey, and Phoebe. Ross and Mon are sibling; Mon and Chandler are couple; Ross and Rachel are seeing each other in the end of the series. Friends had ten seasons which were talking about how they knew each other from the beginning and hang out together in the small coffee house, until Chandler and Monica move out from their apartment. An effects of Aging on Society

           I think there are three effects on society from the elderly population. The first effect, there will be poverty. The poverty will spread when there is more aging in the community because the government will spend more money for them. They need private health care, so the government will lose a lot of their money for aging. In addition, if there are elderly, they will need more care. Subsequently, the government won't develop for society, and they will become poor. The second effect, there isn't justice between generations. When there are a lot of elderly people, the government will take care of them more. Everyone in society needs care, and the government should provide for their needs. Also, it should try to make equal justice between the community. We know the basis of society are young, so the government must keep them. And also, we give them of their needs, such as education, health, and jobs. For example, When we want to open many schools for people, but there are many elderly people. Therefore, we can't do that, but we can change plans for people. Also, we open many hospitals for the elderly because there are many aging in the community. You should take care of most generations. The third effect, there is slow economic growth. When we spend most money for elderly, we will be poor. Also, they try to improve the economy, but they cannot do that because many people are elderly. Therefore, they cannot work, and they don't have a labor force for working. In summary, the effects of aging on society are poverty, justice, and slow economy.

Meanwhile, enjoy pictures is an important part in the class. Last week, I took many pictures in Yueli, and I made a post use these pictures. I have some pictures which I did not use. I think that these photos are also nice, so I want to share them with everyone. These photos are respective shows the staff, the beautiful scenery, some posts and some guy who are studying in Yueli. I like the scenery picture most, I shoot it out of Yueli. I like it, because this picture gives me sense of quiet. Next class, I will take some photos in the Campus. I believe that I can find more beautiful scenery than in Yueli.I believe that Yueli can be a good memeory for me.

Homework. November 27, 2012

Hi everyone. Today I want to tell you about my favorite show. Its name is The Vampire Diaries. First, I learned about the books with the same names and decided to read them. I really enjoyed it and was upset when finished reading all seven books. Later, friends told me that there was a TV series. My happiness knew no bounds. The main action takes place in Mystic Falls. The main characters: 17-year-old Elena Gilbert, who meets 162-year-old vampire named Stefan Salvatore, and they fall in love. Stefan also has a brother, Damon Salvatore, who also falls in love with Elena and always prevents his brother. The series also contains werewolves, hybrids, witches, vampire hunters, and other vampires. In general, the show is very interesting. I advise to look those who love movies about vampires and supernatural beings.

Today, I had no idea about free post, so I asked some people. They wanted to know about a handsome Japanese actor. Therefore, I will introduce about my favorite actor in Japan. It will be boring for some people, but please don't complain of this post.

My favorite actor is Toma Ikuta. He is one of the most popular actor in Japan. He belongs to one of the famous companies. It is a big company of idols, and most of people who belong to the company are singer. In Japan, some people don't like them, but most people who are almost women like them because they are so handsome. However, Toma is a rare person because he doesn't sing songs. He always performs in movies or dramas. His famous movie is Genji monogatari  which is from The Tale of Genji. It is the most famous novel in Japan, and it was made in the early years of the 11th century. He performed the main character of Genji. He appeared on TV when he was a child, but he became popular recently. I'm looking forward to his performances in the future.

Hello! I want to talk about my weekend. On Friday after meeting with Ray , I had appointment with my lawyer. We talked about my visa and I hope every thing will be okay.Then I came back to home and I with my friends decided to go to night club. It was a good time because we did a lot of funny and crazy things.On Saturday, I was at home and I slept all day.This is my kind of hobby because I like it and I can sleep all day and all night. On Sunday, I finished my homework and watched some films. I think it was not bad days.:)

Traditional food ( free post )

Today, I want to introduce the traditional food that are called Zongzi are very famous in my hometown.Actually, most of people eat this traditional food on the Dragon Boat Festival that is our traditional festival.We have the history about Zongzi, and we want to commemorate the Qu Yuan who is a famous poet and patriot in China.He is from Chu, and he finally committed suicide because he was depressed and painful about his country that was destroyed by other country.Then people threw these Zongzi into the river to protect his body because they didn't want his body was eaten by fishes. As for the way of making Zongzi, we need to use palm leaves and some food material, such as meat, sticky rice, mushroom and so on. You can put everything that you like;however you must have sticky rice. Then you need to use palm leaves to warp them.Finally, you should use rope to tie it up.Maybe you looks it's easy for you, but it's difficult to wrap it. In my hometown, we have all kinds of the Zongzi because we have the company that produces the Zongzi is quiet famous and has long history. I like Zongzi very much, so if you also want to try these food, you can buy it in some Chinese supermarkets.

The Big Bang Theory

 The Big bang Theory is one of my favorite American TV series. It is a comedy that talks about  interesting things happen on four scientists and a pretty waitress. These four scientists have special characteristic in this comedy that most normal people cannot stand, especially, Sheldon, who is a extremely Intelligent people but don't known how to get well with others. Leonerd is his roommate who is a really short and unconfined physical experiment physicist, he is a really nice guy that fall in love with the girl named penny secretly. Penny dreams of being a famous actress; however, her dream doesn't come true and she has to work on "cheesece factory" as a waitress. She lives opposite the Sheldon and Leonerd; therefore, they meet each other every day and become good friends. Other two main characters are Howard who is a Jewish people that still lives with his mother, and a Indian rich scientist Raj who cannot talk with women without drunk.Both of them are best friends with Leonerd and Sheldon.Now, this TV series have had six seasons and the stories happen on these people are really funny! also there are full of scientific things that make people fall in love with science. I love this show, especially Sheldon because he is so cute and crazy!

I want to share with you what I did on Friday night to practice my English and have a very good time.

    After class ended at the University, three friends of YUELI, Riko, Yuri, and Nao; two friends of the Physics and Astronomy department of York University, Elder and Gabriel; my husband, Andrew and I decided to go out for dinner because we were hungry and we want to share a good moment together. Then, we decided to visit an amazing restaurant named Moxie's Grill and Bar and located at Yorkdale Shopping Centre. When we arrived at the restaurant there were many people at the waiting area talking and waiting for a table. We reserved a table for seven people and we took seat in the waiting area. While we were waiting at the restaurant, Nao and Yuri told us about their amazing day of shopping in the Eaton Centre. They showed us different things that they buy 50 percent off. They explained us that “Black Friday” is the day when major retailers open extremely early and offer promotional sales in the Eaton Centre and different shopping centers in United States and Canada. After half an hour the waitress guided us through the dining room until our table in the corner of the restaurant. The place was amazing for three main characteristics that I observed.  The first one, all the tables were decorated with the finest dinnerware, and tabletop supplies. The second one, the soft low lighting helped to create a feeling of comfort, and privacy. The third one, the pop music gave us a feeling of being physically relaxed. Then in our table, we decided to order seven signature dishes: the Chipotle mango chicken for me; the Tenderloin filet for Andrew; the Herb chicken Alfred for Riko and Nao; the Penne Toscana pasta for Yuri; the New York steak for Elder and Gabriel; and a bottle of wine. Before we started to eat the girls took different pictures of the dishes and the people to share with you. However, I forgot to require one of them to publish in the blog. It was a great experience to practice my English, share with my friends, and knew a different place.

Hi, everyone :)

I went to dinner with my friend last Thursday. I went to Indian restaurant. We ate Indian carry and tandoori chicken. These were very spicy, but these were so delicious. I found the restaurant in the guide book which I have. I like this restaurant because the decor is so stylish. I want to go there again. In addition, I went to the theater to watch movie. The movie was Skyfall . It was so amazing. I really enjoyed watching movie, but actually, I think I could understand only fifty percent of the movie. I want to watch it with Japanese subtitle.

Black Friday.

Last Friday, it was a Black Friday. As well as, we didn’t have a school, so I went to shopping in the morning. I bought many things such as two dresses, ring and earring. One of the dresses is a black color, and the other one is blue. I bought the ring and earring from Swarovski, and I spent a lot of money for that. I feel sad now because I planned to buy a camera lens, but I did not have enough money.

My weekend

This weekend is very long for me. This Friday was black Friday, so many people went shopping on that day. I also went to the TNT because my food was not enough. I bought lots of fruit and vegetables, and then I went back;however, the weather was very cold , and it began snow. I was so excited because I did not see snow before,I like snow very much.On Friday night, I saw the cartoon movie which is called Alvin and The Chipmunks at my room, and this movie is very cute and interesting.In addition, my friend and I went to look some rental condos on Sunday afternoon. We compared these condos and finally decided the last one that we like. After that, we went to a Korean restaurant that has delicious Korean food. I like this restaurant,and maybe I will go to there next time.

Black Friday, it is a shopping time!

This weekend is a long weekend.We didn't have class on Friday; therefore, after I finished my interview, I went shopping with my friends. As we know, this Friday is called Black Friday, it means many shops had big discount at that time. I was so excited that app store had discount too, so I decided to buy an iPhone 5 for my mother.However, I couldn't buy it from apple store like wejdan said on her post. The staff from app store told me that I have to book iphone5 from official website, but when I tried it on my computer, I didn't succeed. I felt so disappointed. The mall that I went on Friday is really far from our school. It took us over 2 hours to got there by bus, and I even don't know the name of that mall. Until 10:00 pm, we left mall and went back home, we saw snow on the way back home and I love snowing. I was so tired when I got my room, so I have stayed in my room for two days!

On saturday I went to Dundas HMV to buy DVDs. There I bought karate kid, Alien series, and platoon. On the day, I watched Karate kid that's jakie's movei and maybe  is remade from the original one. this was a good movie. this movei was different from other jakie's movies, but still good. In the past movies, Jakie is mostly the only main character. Of couse  there is an exception like rush hour series.  In Karate Kid, will smith's son, Jaden smith is the starring role and pupil of Jakie. Because Jakie is old enough, His role as a teacher matched well. On this movie, you can see the tarent of Jaden smith and a new role for Jakie, so I think you should watch this movei.

Homework. November 25, 2012.

This weekend, I finally went to the optometrist and bought a new Contacts lenses, so now I can see everything clearly. Then we went to visit friends, to congratulate them on the birth of his granddaughter. Her name is Zoey. We also went to hardware store 50 times to buy material for a new kitchen, because we have finished installing all cabinets. Now we have started to clean the house of debris. Then we arranged the dishes on the lockers, so get out of the house was not possible, but we can now start again normally cook and eat.

My weekend

This weekend I am so happy, because my friend who studies in Montreal will come to Toronto in the Christmas holiday. I think that I do not feel alone in this lengthy holiday. In addition, I watch a movie which is called The Amazing Spider-Man. I think that many people watched Spider-man series movie, Spider-man series movie released in July 2012. According to this movie, Orphan Peter parker was a kind-heart man, but he often is mistreated. Afterward, he found a briefcase that his father leaves and he began to search father cause of death. Coincidentally, Peter parker was bitten by a spider. At this moment, he had superpower, and he began to protect city safety, after his uncle was killed by a robber. Fianlly he became the hero of city. I like this moive , because I worshiped  hero.

On Saturday, I took part in a trip, I go to Kortright Centre, a guide brought us to get in touch with nature. In nature , I feel relax and happy.meanwhile I learn many biology knowledge from guide, for instance, deer's footprint, many animal's fur and so on. All in all, this is a nice weekend.

Activity for this week

Hello everyone,

How are you? As you can feel, Toronto's winter arrived, it feels snowy, windy, and cold. Did you go shopping on Friday? I didn't expect that I can buy anything on Black friday, but I did go to downtown for shopping on Friday afternoon after meeting with Ray. I can tell people were everywhere. I didn't realise that Toronto has that much people. I can not even hustle into the washroom, I was very excited because of the new Vans store opened. Anyway, I bought a pair of Vans skateboard shoes and Vans hoodies on Friday. Yesterday, I took part in a ILETS test from 9 am to 3 pm which is a requirement test prepared for international students to get into university. The test was okay for me, but I thought I did not do it well. I am going to play basketball, everyone has a nice day. By the way, did you watch the video? Haha~~Thanks.

         Mother is a great woman, and she is kind and friendly with her children. Also, she is lovely with people because mother has a good heart  and a big heart . In addition, her heart consist of loving, sympathy, and tenderness. You should love your mother , and you should kiss your head, your hands, and your feeds.Mother needs lovely from her children, and also she does not like to live lonely. Mother suffered with her children at a young age,and we must take care of them in old age.
